Overview

Rippling is a unified workforce platform that consolidates HR, IT device management, payroll, benefits administration, and spend management into a single system. On external-facing websites, Rippling's presence is primarily through career site widgets that power job listing pages and application forms. The platform automates the flow from candidate application through to employee onboarding, device provisioning, and payroll setup.

What This Script Does

Rippling's client-side scripts embed career site functionality on corporate websites. Scripts are loaded from Rippling's domains to render job listing pages and application interfaces.

Career Site Widget

The widget displays available job openings with filtering options (department, location, employment type). Job listings are pulled from the company's Rippling ATS (Applicant Tracking System) and rendered on the corporate website either as an embedded component or a full career page.

Application Forms

When a candidate selects a position, the script renders the application form including:

• Personal information fields (name, email, phone, location)
• Resume/CV upload functionality
• Custom screening questions configured by the employer
• Optional fields for demographic data (for EEO compliance reporting)

Tracking and Attribution

The script collects applicant source data to measure recruiting campaign effectiveness:

• _rpl_ref — stores the referral source and UTM parameters for the applicant
• _rpl_session — session cookie for the career site browsing session

The attribution tracking records which job boards, social media posts, or career page links generated each application, feeding this data into Rippling's recruiting analytics.

Scripts communicate with Rippling's API endpoints. Beyond application data and source attribution, the scripts do not perform general visitor behavior tracking or set advertising cookies.

Consent & Compliance

Rippling is classified as functional. The career site widget and application forms serve a clear functional purpose — enabling job seekers to browse openings and submit applications. The source attribution tracking serves operational recruiting analytics rather than advertising.

Under GDPR, the session cookie for the career site browsing experience is functionally necessary. The referral attribution cookie serves a legitimate interest (measuring recruiting channel effectiveness) but is not strictly necessary for the application function itself. Application form data processing requires a specific legal basis, typically the steps necessary to enter into a contract (GDPR Article 6(1)(b)) or legitimate interest.
