Overview
iCIMS is a leading enterprise talent acquisition platform used by approximately 4,000 employers including major corporations and Fortune 500 companies. Its Talent Cloud suite covers the full recruitment lifecycle from job posting through onboarding. When integrated with an employer's website, iCIMS powers the careers section by embedding job listings, search functionality, and application forms directly on the employer's domain, maintaining brand consistency throughout the candidate experience.
What This Script Does
iCIMS career portal scripts load from careers.icims.com or a custom-branded subdomain configured for the employer. The integration renders searchable job listing pages with filters for location, department, and job type, along with individual job detail pages and multi-step application forms.
The scripts set session cookies to maintain the applicant's state as they browse listings and complete applications. An icims_session or similarly named cookie tracks the active session, preserving form progress, saved searches, and partially completed applications. These cookies are session-scoped and expire when the browser closes.
Application forms collect extensive personal data including name, email, phone number, resume/CV uploads, work history, education, and responses to employer-defined screening questions. This data is transmitted to iCIMS's servers via secure API calls and stored within the employer's iCIMS tenant.
If the employer enables iCIMS's talent community or job alert features, the portal may set a persistent cookie to recognize returning candidates and pre-populate certain fields. The talent community sign-up collects email addresses for job notification subscriptions.
Network requests are made to iCIMS API endpoints for job search queries, application submissions, and autosave functionality. Some implementations include iCIMS's built-in analytics for career site performance, which tracks page views and conversion funnels within the career portal.
Consent & Compliance
iCIMS is classified as functional. The career portal provides job browsing and application submission functionality that candidates actively choose to engage with.
Under GDPR and the ePrivacy Directive, session cookies supporting the application process are strictly necessary for a service explicitly requested by the user. Career site analytics tracking job listing views and application funnel metrics may require a separate assessment — if the analytics are first-party and used solely for recruitment process optimization, they may be covered under legitimate interest, but this depends on the implementation. Applicant data processing must comply with GDPR's requirements for processing in an employment context, including purpose limitation and data minimization.
Under CCPA/CPRA, applicant data submitted through iCIMS is subject to the California Consumer Privacy Act's employee and applicant exemption scope. Employers should disclose career site data collection in their applicant privacy notice.
Should You Block This Without Consent?
No. iCIMS provides functional career portal services that candidates voluntarily engage with. Blocking it would prevent job seekers from browsing open positions or submitting applications. If career site analytics features are enabled, those should be assessed separately based on the specific data collection scope.
